Unflanged imperial deep groove ball bearings are usually found in older British made and current American machinery and are measured in inches rather than mm The bearings are supplied open (unsealed) which means they are not sealed in anyway which allows for the circulation of the oil or grease lubricant. There is also a snap ring made from spring steel which fits in to a groove of the outer race offset to one side which is used when fitting in to housing when it is part of the machinery frame casing.
