Barrel roller bearings are single row, self-aligning roller bearings that consist of solid outer rings with a concave raceway, solid inner rings with two ribs and barrel rollers with either steel, brass or polyamide cages and are also available with tapered bore or parallel bore.

Barrel roller bearings are suitable for;

- Compensating angular misalignments where there is skewing between the outer and inner ring.
- here high radial shock type loads occur, because of the line contact
- where angular misalignments and high radial loads occur, but speed is not a priority
