A type of industrial lubricant, the characteristic features of grease is that it has a high initial viscosity which drops off upon the application of shear forces. This change is called shear thinning. Other lubricants are sometimes described as grease but they do not have this property.

Greases are useful to apply to mechanisms that can be lubricated only infrequently and where a lubricating oil would not stay in position.

Types of Grease include:
EP2 Grease
Unirex N3 Grease

Grease also act as sealants to prevent the ingress of water and other incompressible materials.
