Also known as a coned-disc spring, Belville spring or cupped spring washer, a Belville washer is a conical shell which can be loaded along its axis either statically or dynamically. Essentailly Belville washers are washer shaped springs.

As pressure is applied to the Belville washer it will flatten out and are commonly used to produce exceptionally high loads in small areas.
